PlayStation Vita Launch Sales Revealed

The PlayStation Vita was released on December 17 in Japan and it’s already sold a staggering amount of systems. But just how many PlayStation Vita systems were Sony able to move?

Enterbrain reports that the PlayStation Vita sold through 321,000 units… in the first week. Note that the release date was a Saturday, therefore the sales number only covered two days of the system being available at retail.

To put things into perspective in the handheld market, Nintendo 3DS sold around 370,000 units on its first two days, while the original PSP sold around 165,000 units on its first day only. Even though Vita’s number are slightly below 3DS, it is set to sell more units than the PSP already, which we all know sells like hotcakes in Japan.

PS Vita is set to launch on February 22, 2012 in North America and Europe.  Anybody in Japan lucky enough to score a system? Or have any of you decided to import a PlayStation Vita? Let us know in the comment section below.
