If you were hoping to step in the shoes of Max Payne this March, it looks like you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Rockstar Game’s upcoming title Max Payne 3 has officially been delayed to May 15th for North American gamers and May 18th in Europe.
According to a statement from Rockstar, the delay has been made to ensure that the game delivers the quality experience that has come to be expected from the studio. Sam Houser, the president of Rockstar expressed his excitement for the title, saying:
Max Payne 3 brings powerful storytelling back to the action-shooter genre. Rockstar Studios are delivering a game that’s both incredibly cinematic and very, very intense to play.
The CEO at Take Two, Strauss Zelnick addressed the delay itself, saying:
We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our company.
Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar’s ability to take interactive entertainment to another level.
It is worth noting that this delay keeps the Max Payne 3 launch in line with Rockstar’s previous titles L.A. Noire and Red Dead Redemption, both of which launched in the month of May years prior.
