Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward may have just prematurely outed plans for their next title. A job listing on their main site indicates the studio’s need for an animator skilled in “next-generation technologies”.
According to the job posting:
Infinity Ward, developer of numerous award winning games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is seeking a Senior Animator, preferably with experience in game development and an interest in working with next-generation technologies.
While it should come as no surprise to gamers that new consoles aren’t far off, knowing that the next major Infinity Ward title will likely launch at the end of 2013 gives us a better idea of when we might see the next wave of consoles. While Sony’s Kaz Hirai has made it clear that the PS4 will not be announced this year, this could point to a 2013 reveal.
As for what this next gen title may be, judging by the record-breaking sales of Modern Warfare 3, it’s fair to assume another Call of Duty title is in the cooker.
