Every E3 12 Press Conference Recapped, Rated

The crazy press conference part of E3 is now almost over, but if you missed it so far, here’s what happened.

Microsoft:

Rating: C Terrible singing, terrible dancing tons of Kinect and hardly any games. Sadly, a rather disappointing E3 conference with the only highlight being a very good looking, yet known, Halo 4 trailer.

EA:

  • Farmville-alike Sim City Social revealed for Facebook
  • EA nabs UFC series
  • Dead Space 3, Crysis 3 coming next Feb, new trailers
  • EA confirms Battlefield 3 Premium subscription
  • XCOM: Enemy Unknown trailer released
  • Star Wars: TOR to be free-to-play up to level 15
  • Medal of Honor: Warfighter pre-order DLC announced

Rating: D- Pretty much nothing revealed, and way too much time spent on how their sports games will be revolutionary this time around… with execs using exactly the same wording as last year.

Ubisoft:

  • Flo Rida announces Just Dance 4
  • ZombiU to be a Wii U exclusive zombie game set in London
  • Spider-Man, Wolverine coming to Wii U/Kinect Avengers game
  • Assassin’s Creed III shown, looks great
  • Rayman Legends shown on Wii U
  • ShootMania Storm aims be the next eSport, coming to PC
  • Watch Dogs announced for PS3, 360, PC, is a major IP

Rating: A- Sure, there was a lot of rubbish singing and ShootMania Storm gameplay, as well as terrible celebrity presenters, but I can forgive that because of Watch Dogs. A new IP of this scale from a third party this late on is remarkable, and should be rewarded with praise. Plus ACIII looks awesome.

Sony:

Rating: B- Beyond was a huge reveal, but other than that, the show was rather barren of megatons. The Vita was also completely ignored, casting doubt over how much support the platform will receive.

Nintendo [Wii U]:

  • Pikmin 3 announced for Wii U
  • Wii U to support two GamePads
  • Wii U to support Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video on Demand and YouTube
  • Wii U getting improved Batman: Arkham City “Armored Edition”
  • New Super Mario Bros. U announced
  • SiNG announced for Wii U, is about singing
  • Ninja Gaiden 3, Mass Effect 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, TANK! TANK! TANK!, Darksiders II and Trine 2: Directors Cut coming to Wii U
  • Wii Fit U Announced
  • Lego City, Scribblenauts Unlimited coming to the Wii U
  • Nintendo Land announced, a social hub set in an amusement park with 12 different “attractions”

Rating: B- Yaay Pikmin! Other than that? Where was all the Wii U specs and price news? Where was the proof that the Wii U controller is worth all its expensive tech? This close to launch, I was hoping for more.

Nintendo [3DS]:

  • Come back tomorrow to find out about the 3DS press conference
  • Paper Mario: Sticker Star out this Holiday
  • Super Mario Bros. 2 releasing August 19th
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited coming to 3DS
  • Luigi’s Mansion announced for 3DS

Rating: Pending.
