Deep Silver Assures Gamers Dead Island: Riptide is a Proper Sequel, Priced Below $60

If Deep Silver’s far-too-buggy Dead Island managed to win you over when it launched last year, you’ll be pleased to know that their upcoming sequel, subtitled Riptide, will serve as an entirely new game and sport a $49.99 price tag.

Aubrey Norris, Deep Silver’s Manager of Marketing and Public Relations made the clarifying announcement, stating that “It is a new game. Not a remake.” In addition, Norris addressed the slightly cheaper price tag, explaining that since “it’s the end of a console cycle – we think this price makes a lot more sense given that.”

Let’s just hope that this followup is enough of a departure from the original to warrant a purchase – especially in terms of polish. More information on Dead Island: Riptide will be revealed this summer, so keep it locked to PlayStation LifeStyle for additional updates.

A “Game of the Year Edition” of Dead Island will be launching later this year, despite the fact that only one gaming outlet provided the game with the award. Come on guys, couldn’t you have called it something else?
