With Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops sequel set to launch this November, it’s fair to reason that the next Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty title will launch fall of next year. With the overwhelming belief that the next wave of console hardware will launch at the end of 2013, one would also reason that Activision’s shooter would be a next-gen title, and according to an IW employee’s CV, that is precisely the case.
Superannuation (via Kotaku) first spotted the resume of Andrew Aye, who currently serves as the lead engineer at Infinity Ward. On his page, he lists work on a new unannounced project (almost certainly another Call of Duty game) which is not only in development for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, but also for “PC DX11” and “TBA.”
Not only that, but apparently IW is working on a “new high-end DX11 code base.” Bearing in mind the fact that the PS3 and Xbox 360 can’t run DX11, coupled with the fact that the consoles listed include the ambiguous “TBA” tag, it serves to reason that they are alluding to the yet-to-be announced Xbox 720 and PS4. We previously uncovered that their next gen game would be and FPS.
If this turns out to be true, do you think next-gen hardware will help breathe some new life into the increasingly redundant franchise? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
