According to a recent report from a source at 2K Games, it appears as though the next installment in the Mafia franchise is currently in development for next generation consoles.
The news comes from a source close to Eurogamer.cz, who claims that Mafia 3 is currently in the works for the PlayStation 4 and next Xbox despite having originally planned for release on current-gen consoles. Not only that, but the source is reporting that the game is set to launch next year. If this is true, then the successors to the PS3 and Xbox 360 certainly aren’t all that far off.
Rumors have been circulating for some time that both Sony and Microsoft will launch their new systems late next year, but at this point there isn’t much to go on besides mere speculation. However, with more and more reports sprouting up regarding next-gen development, one can reasonably conclude that new hardware isn’t far off.
