Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel to Feature a More Serious Tone

Visceral has stressed that Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will feature a more serious tone than the previous installments in the IP.

The studio is planning to “reset the series”, and one of the ways they’ll change it up is by making the game more serious compared to tthe first two installments, according to producer Zach Mumbach who explained to Game Informer:

The first two games were good games, but they weren’t great games. They certainly had more lighthearted moments. In the middle of a big gunfight, you could sort of high five your buddy and make some smartass remark. Which is fine, there’s certainly an audience that wants that.

That isn’t necessarily what we at Visceral do. We try to take it a little more serious. We’re not completely rebooting it. [I think] the fans will really like what we’re doing with the franchise.

Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is due for a release sometime during March 2013. It’ll be showcased to press by publisher EA at gamescom next week.
