While Platinum Games took over the development reigns on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance a little while back, Kojima Productions still has a large hand in its development.
Speaking to VG247, Yuji Korekado of Kojima Productions explained that Platinum Games is focused primarily on gameplay, while Kojipro is still handling the story and cutscenes:
Platinum are in control of game development, but direction for the world, the story and cutscenes are all handled by Kojima Productions. We talk on a daily basis to make sure that story reflects on gameplay.
Despite the fact that two different teams are working on the game, they are extremely committed to making the game feel like a complete and cohesive experience. As such, communication between the two has been extremely important. “As far as game design goes, if we want to make a really good product, the design aspect must relate to gameplay and vice-versa,” Korekado explained.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is slated for release on February 19th for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
