Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment have confirmed that they have a small team working on a next-gen project, with the consoles described as a “quantum leap” over current-generation systems. Head of franchise development Oskari Häkkinen told GI International Germany:
Currently, we are working with a relatively small team on a next-gen project. One question you always ask yourself in this phase is: can the upcoming consoles really be so much better compared to the current gen? I can rest assure you, they are. It’s a quantum leap.
The small team is around twenty developers, says Häkkinen, who added that Remedy also working on a mobile game for Android and iOS platforms.
The comment should be particularly welcome for next-gen skeptics, with many worrying that the consoles will be limited due to the high costs and low returns of this generation.
