Developer Backbone Entertainment, the team behind the PSP title Death Jr. may be getting the axe after facing a number of layoffs.
According to a handful of sources at the company, there are currently talks of shutting down the studio, though nothing is official yet. IGN is reporting that one of their sources has emphasized that the closure isn’t a done deal just yet, claiming that the team will aim to “keep it going smaller”.
Backbone Entertainment is most well known for their work on the PlayStation Portable title Death Jr., but they’ve also worked on a number of other titles including the XBLA version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 as well as LEGO Rock Band for portables.
Stay tuned to PlayStation LifeStyle for updates on the future of Backbone. I’ll be honest, just thinking about a Death title for the PlayStation Vita has me rooting for their future. Well, that and the fact that I hate to see any studio close.
