More often than not, when Sony releases a new system software update for the PlayStation 3, you’ll be greeted by a very annoying update reminder when you boot up your system.
Thankfully tonight’s update, version 4.31, doesn’t require you to lose any gaming time. Instead, you can update the system at your nearest convenience by going into the settings option on your XMB and selecting System Update.
The official word on this update from the PlayStation forums is as follows:
This is not a mandatory update. However, we suggest you keep your systems updated with the latest firmware, as these updates further improve overall system stability and help provide you with the best online entertainment experience possible.
While this statement doesn’t quite tell us a lot about the update, their Twitter account did say that if you had been experiencing issues with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD, they will be fixed after you install 4.31.
