PS3 is the Most Popular Device for Netflix Streaming

Netflix subscribers around the world can instantly stream a plethora of movies and TV shows to a large variety of devices from computers to consoles to mobiles and handhelds. This is why the PS Blog was excited to report today that more people use the PlayStation 3 to stream Netflix than any other device in the world.

Since it’s launch in 2009, the PS3 has become a “primary development platform for the Netflix streaming experience” and has been host to a myriad of firsts for the Netflix streaming app. Sony’s console was the first to receive 1080P resolution streaming and 5.1 surround sound as well as “post play, second screen controls, on device sign-up, and alternate audio options including subtitles”. The PS3 will also play host to a new voice user interface nicknamed “Max” that is currently in the testing stages.

Netflix is definitely a large factor in many people utilizing a PS3 as their home media hubs. With Netflix compatibility on the Vita (in the US) allowing you to seamlessly continue watching movies and TV shows between the systems, Sony has cemented a strong alliance with a service that is ever present in the world’s living rooms.

Is Netflix a core part of your PS3 experience? How do you utilize your PS3 as a media center in your home?
