Capcom Lowers Financials to Compensate for Lackluster RE6 Sales

It looks like Resident Evil 6 hasn’t managed to rake in the big numbers that Capcom was hoping for, as the publisher has had to lower its sales projections.

The fact that Monster Hunter 4 has been pushed outside of its fiscal year (ending March 31st) doesn’t help either, as Capcom is expecting the 3DS title to sell big numbers.

The company’s initial projection was 105,000 million yen, which has now been lowered to 93,500 million yen, which makes for an 11% decrease. Capcom had the following to say about the lowered financials: “Sales of the major new title Resident Evil 6 were initially strong, but subsequently weakened. As a result, sales for this title are certain to fall short of the plan.”

Do you think Resident Evil 6‘s emphasis on action was a major reason sales dropped off so quickly? Could the game’s sluggish performance force the company to reconsider its approach for future installments in the franchise? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
