Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Online Multiplayer DLC Most Likely Axed by Ubisoft (Update: Pushed to 2013)

Update: Polygon has reported that a Ubisoft rep confirmed to them that the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World DLC is now on track for a 2013 release.

Original Story: Back in August, a new $5 piece of DLC for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was announced that would add online multiplayer and Wallace Wells as a playable character. After not actually releasing when it was supposed to, Ubisoft delayed it to the always vague ‘fall’ release window.

After the first Tuesday of December came and went, with no new DLC, an owner of the game sent an email to Ubisoft asking if it had possibly been delayed. After receiving an email that said they had no ‘information available on this subject at this time’, he sent another one to clarify what exactly that meant, and was given this response:

I can honestly say that the content has been cancelled at this time, due to a lack of interest in the product. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

From what I’ve seen in various sales charts, the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World game has actually sold quite well, so the lack of interest might point towards how few people are playing the game recently. Whatever the case, it doesn’t look like we’ll be able to play the game online with friends, ever.

What do you think of this possible cancellation? Does it make you want to punch the highlights out of someone’s hair? Let us know in the comments below.
