Winner: Journey
Various pundits and analysts predict a digital only future in a few decades, but if this generation has taught us anything, it’s that digital is already a major part of the games industry. The Walking Dead was a fantastic downloadable game series that has certainly introduced some memorable characters and had a fantastic story, but even it couldn’t beat Journey. Thatgamecompany’s final PSN exclusive was worth the wait – it’s an incredibly beautiful and moving experience that transcends anything else on the PSN.
Saving costs by releasing digitally allows for a developer and publisher to take more risks and try something different. And that’s exactly what thatgamecompany and Sony did with Journey.
