The Walking Dead Season 1 from Telltale’s Games that released as a 5-part downloadable series in 2012 provided a hugely emotional journey that wound up taking runner-up honors in our Game of the Year category.
In an interview with Red Bull UK, Telltale’s CEO and co-founder, Dan Connors, was poised the question of what helped inspire them during the development of The Walking Dead:
I think the games that we talked about the most during development were Heavy Rain and Uncharted from a cinematic standpoint, and Mass Effect from a choice standpoint.
For other media we always look at the best episodic series out there – obviously the Walking Dead TV show, but also Game of Thrones and Mad Men, for the way they handle characters and are able to present them with so much depth.
With Season 2 of the series already confirmed, due to the massive success of the series, Dan was then asked if our Season 1 decisions would carry over:
Right now we are just starting to form the concept for season two. This all remains to be seen but we are definitely figuring out how to carry the saves over.
To wrap it up, Dan responded to what he’d like to see Telltale Games work on at some point down the road:
Coming from Lucas Arts we always felt we could do a great Star Wars story game. We also love the idea of building out a deeper story to a great game franchise, something like Half Life Stories or Halo Stories.
