David Cage Discusses the Absurdity in Using New Engine for Beyond: Two Souls, “We’re Just Crazy People”

With the PlayStation 4 almost certainly on the not too distant horizon, it may be a bit puzzling as to why David Cage and his team at Quantic Dream decided to go with a completely new engine for their upcoming title Beyond: Two Souls. Interestingly enough, according to Cage, it’s was “totally absurd” to do so, and they’re “just crazy people”.

In an interview with Shacknews, Cage explained the thought process behind going with a brand-new engine, saying:

Does it make sense from a company point of view? Not really, to be honest. Being the CEO of the company, I can tell you that it’s totally absurd. But we enjoy it so much. We’re a team of passionate people. This is ‘what we should have done,’ but we’ve done something else.

We’re just crazy people. We don’t do this for money or fame. We want to take risks because we enjoy trying to push the envelope.

I don’t know about you, but it’s this type of against-the-grain thinking that has me so excited to get my hands on Beyond: Two Souls when it (hopefully) comes out later this year. Are you excited for David Cage’s latest effort? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
