God of War: Ascension Beta now Available on PS+, Single Player Info is “Coming Sooner Than you Think”

If you’ve somehow missed the myriad of posts on PlayStation LifeStyle recently about the God of War: Ascension beta coming out today for PlayStation Plus members, the PlayStation Store has updated, allowing you to now get into the carnage.

With the beta, you’ll be able to align with either Zeus or Ares, play through the eight player modes of Team Favor of the Gods and Capture the Flag or the four player Free For All, fight in the Desert of Lost Souls and Forum of Hercules maps, build up to level 30, and talk with other players thanks to the newly added voice chat.

Being a beta, it doesn’t feature everything that will be in the final product. Here’s what Sony Santa Monica will be adding for the retail release:

  • Hades and Poseidon allegiances
  • Third weapon class
  • More large and small maps created from signature God of War locations
  • The ability to customize your Warrior as you unlock and level up all the weapons, magics, armors, relics, and God items from the four allegiances
  • You’ll be able to join your friends in matches
  • An unannounced fourth multiplayer mode

Keeping the God of War: Ascension train rolling, you can check out the latest behind the scenes video below, which chronicles how multiplayer joined the franchise:

With all of this focus on the multiplayer aspect of Ascension lately, you may have forgotten that there’s a full single player campaign within the game! To keep you enticed, Sony Santa Monica simply offered this statement: “fear not: a wealth of new information is coming sooner than you think.”

Stay tuned to PSLS for all the details regarding Kratos’ new journey as they are brought to light.
