While Sony’s PlayStation web-based store is already available in Europe, gamers in North America have had to wait patiently for a release stateside. Fortunately, that all comes to an end later this month.
Sony Entertainment Network COO Shawn Layden shared the news with CNET, explaining that the web store will allow PlayStation users to browse through the available content and make purchases right from their browser. The eventual plan is to then have it so that when a purchase it made, it will automatically be downloaded to the user’s PlayStation 3. Nifty, eh?
There’s no specific date set for the launch, but we’ve only got a few more weeks of January left, so the window is growing increasingly smaller with each passing day.
Are you excited to see this browser-based web store come to the U.S.? Do you think you’ll take advantage of the service when it becomes available? Let us know in the comments below.
