Sony Waiting on Microsoft to Announce Next-Gen Hardware First

We’re all expecting Sony to reveal their next-gen console soon, but recent comments from Sony CEO Kaz Hirai have us rethinking their plan.

In the The Times’ Business section (via IGN), Hirai made it clear that he is in no rush to pull back the curtain on the PlayStation 4. “Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?” he said.

While there’s a shred of truth buried in that statement, one would think it would be a little too late at this point for either Microsoft or Sony to change their hardware strategy in response to the competition. I’d like to think that both companies have their hardware set and are working on getting the devices manufactured so that we’ll have enough of them come this holiday season.

What do you think? Will Sony hold off on a reveal until Microsoft debuts the next-gen Xbox? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
