That illustrious Sony press event on February 20th is just one week away, and with the PS4 reveal entirely possible (in a huge venue nonetheless), we wanted to end our three weeks of PS4 questions on the games. So, the PlayStation LifeStyle staff was asked:
Which Launch Title Would Make You Buy a PS4?
Anthony Severino – Founder/Executive Editor (@Sev_Anthony)
I’m gonna be ‘that guy’ and say that the launch titles matter very little to me. I know that historically, launch quality has been poor for any console. I take the bad with the good, knowing it’s going to get better. Even if all of the games suck, I’m okay with that. Because again, I know it’ll get better, and I’m an early-adopter of any new tech product or gadget, especially with gaming.
So while I’d love for there to be a Naughty Dog title, or one of my favorite franchises, I’d hate for any good reputations to be damaged because they’re still learning the console and testing the waters. Instead, let everyone else take the first steps, while the better developers learn to run before they walk.
That, and I’d buy a PS4 with no games at all. I mean, c’mon. What normal guy goes on to found a PlayStation site and wouldn’t but a PS4 just to have one before everyone else. You’re right, I’m not normal. I’m nuts, and I’ll own a PS4 regardless.

I like to look at a launch lineup and say whether it is good or not, but that has never really swayed my opinion on buying a new console. So when the PS4 launches, I will be picking it up regardless of what launches with it. Heck, it could launch with 2 Hello Kitty games and a sequel to Afrika and I would still buy it. Now of course I want the best games possible at launch, so for kicks, I would say I want Suikoden VI, Persona 5, a new Wild Arms, Valkyria Chronicles 4, a sequel to Eternal Sonata, and I could go on forever with things that won’t happen at launch.

Recent rumors of a Legacy of Kain reboot have me eager to see that one on PS4 as a launch title. Besides that, I am fully expecting and looking forward to the release of 4’s: Uncharted 4, Killzone 4, God of War 4, etc. Though these may not all be launch titles, especially with God of War getting Ascension next month, it’s unlikely we’ll see 4 by the end of the year. On a loftier and more unlikely wishlist, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Psychonauts 2 would be an immediate buy for me as well if it launched alongside the PS4.

The only way I will even consider picking one up is it if launches with the highly requested sequel of the most beloved PSOne franchise, Incredible Crisis. If Sony misses the boat one more time, I think I will be forced to follow my heart and order a GameStick, which will at least allow me to take the next step in my career at GameStick LifeStyle.

That’s easy, Genji: Days of the Blade 2.
Actually, as opposed to wanting Jak 4, Killzone 4, Uncharted 4, or any other possible Sony exclusive with ‘4’ in the title, I’d prefer to just have a new IP that really shows off what the PS4 can do. Stunning graphics, super smooth gameplay, and, if there’s any big innovations with the PS4, I’d want them to be incorporated as well.
But if they do have Jak 4 at launch, that would be awesome.

I’m buying a PlayStation 4 regardless of the launch lineup. That being said, I’m really hoping for Killzone 4 and Uncharted 4 to debut with the PS4. Aside from being favorite franchises of mine, I feel that Guerilla and Naughty Dog are Sony’s best internal studios to demonstrate the PS4’s graphical fidelity and capability right from the get-go.

There are quite a few franchises that have seem more than enough sequels. While I would instantly purchase an Uncharted PS4 title, it would take a brand new IP for me to consider any game a PS4 system seller. I would love something new from David Cage, Insomniac or Naughty Dog. With what I assume will be a new processor and more RAM (Video and otherwise), a new IP would be the best way for a developer to kick the tires on the PS4.

I’m only buying it if it has Destiny obviously… Nah, what I want is a game with Nathan Drake where he grows a beard and has to save the girl in Beyond from mushroom dolphins. I’d buy that in a heartbeat.
