Earlier today, VideoGamer reported that an anonymous source “familiar with the unannounced project” said that Dead Space 4 had been cancelled. This supposed axing was due to Dead Space 3‘s lower than expected sales, leading EA executives to visit Visceral Montreal last month to tell everyone they had been fired and to announce details of a restructure for them.
Well, EA has issued a comment on this particular rumor, telling Gamasutra that they are “patently false.” Then, over at Joystiq, they said that, “While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA.” Finally, Dino Ignacio, UI Lead at Visceral Games, sent out this tweet just a little while ago:
The reports of our death were greatly exaggerated. Please stand by.
