Last night at the BAFTA Awards, The Walking Dead took home a couple of awards – Best Story and Best Mobile/Handheld Game. That’s also where Eurogamer caught up with CEO and Co-Founder of Telltale Games, Dan Connors, to ask him when we might expect Season 2 of The Walking Dead. He simply replied by saying, “We’re aiming for fall next year.”
As Game Informer reported today though, he misspoke, and the release window for Season 2 is actually Fall 2013, something that is much, much closer. Even with that release window set for this year, Gary Whitta did tease last month that that “there may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two.”
Now, with Season 2 coming out in Fall 2013, the PlayStation 4 will be nearing release and Dan talked whether we might see a PS4 version, in addition to the PS3 version:
I would think so, though, but it’s all going to depend on timing I guess. But we don’t have enough information from [Sony] to announce it or anything.
He then continued on with his thoughts about Sony’s next-gen system:
Oh I love it. I love that they’re going to invest in the connected experience. I think there’s a lot of room for us to grow there and take advantage of that and create new experiences with the stats and the shared experiences. There’s a huge opportunity there.
On the notion of saves between seasons, Kevin Boyle, Executive Producer at Telltale Games, spoke to IGN, telling them:
Season 2 will read what you did in Season 1 and that will tailor some of the things that happened in Season 2. They’ll be a lot more social and in-between episode features for Season 2 that definitely exploit what the new platforms have to offer. We’re super-excited about PlayStation 4 and what all the other big console manufacturers have in store.
Then Kevin Bruner, Co-Founder of Telltale Games, commented on PS3 to PS4 save functionality:
We’re in close contact with Sony and they understand what is the secret recipe of The Walking Dead so expect that we’ll be talking about it soon.
