God of War: Ascension’s Trial of Archimedes Getting Patched, Todd Papy “Personally Tuned it”

Now that God of War: Ascension has been out for a few days (in North America at least), many people have played through it and reached the dreaded Trial of Archimedes. This portion of the game has proved to be extremely difficult for some, causing many game owners to send tweets to Todd Papy, Game Director of God of War: Ascension.

Todd has addressed much of the frustration people have been experiencing, stating that “I personally tuned it. I didn’t mean for it to be so hard. We are looking into patching it.” So, while they may be working on tuning it down, Todd said “nope” when asked if he knew an exact time frame for the patch, just that it would be out “very soon”. With so many people having troubles in the Trial of Archemedes, we’ll be sure to let you know exactly when this newest patch comes out.

To help some people through the difficult chapter, Todd gave the following tips:

Hearing the news about a patch for the Trial of Archimedes, our very own Anthony Severino, who reviewed God of War: Ascension, talked a little bit about it:

While admittedly, this was a very difficult portion of the game, I felt that for the most part I breezed through my playthrough unchallenged until the Trial of Archimedes and I’m saddened that it’s being patched to make it easier. It’s supposed to be a challenge, a trial, a gauntlet.  When I finally did finish it, which was my third or fourth try, it felt like an accomplishment. It forced me to take a step back from the combat and think about the best approach. Not only did I consider using the Eyes of Truth and the Oath Stone in combat, I planned which enemies to attack and kill first to replenish my health and magic with the orbs they released. After carefully putting together a sound strategy, it still did take a little luck, and a whole lot of effort, but I was able to complete the task. I smiled a bit when the trophy alert popped up knowing I worked hard for it.

Aside from the Trial of Archimedes, some people asked Todd Papy if we may see an increase on the time limit in the co-op mode, which he responded to by saying “we are looking into different options.”

What are your thoughts on the Trial of Archimedes? How long did it take you to beat? Do you have a helpful strategy? Or have you already platinumed the game using our trophy guide? Let us know in the comments below.
