Sega put out a brief teaser video on Friday that pretty much confirmed it, and today, the news is official – Castle of Illusion is headed to the PlayStation 3 via the PSN. Billed as a “complete re-imagining” of the original game which debuted in 1990, you can expect it this summer.
Full details about the title were held up back, though you can expect it to be “rebuilt from the ground up” with “stunning visuals and new gameplay mechanics,” and the original storyline that sees Mickey save Minnie from Mizrabel is back as well.

Developed by Sega Studios Australia, Chris Olson, VP of Digital Business at Sega of America, talked a little about Castle of Illusion:
The original Castle of Illusion was tremendously entertaining and has a well-deserved reputation as a SEGA classic. Castle of Illusion Featuring Mickey Mouse brings this great game to a new generation. Mickey is back and he looks fantastic.
