Ask PSLS: Which Popular PS3 Franchise Do You NOT Want to see on the PlayStation 4?

Considering that this is the last year the PlayStation 3 will have before the PlayStation 4 bursts onto the scene, many franchises will be making the leap to the next generation. At the same time, however, there’s also many that won’t, so we decided to ask the PSLS staff: “Which Popular PS3 Franchise Do You NOT Want to see on the PlayStation 4?”

Anthony Severino – To the Point (@Sev_Anthony)

LittleBigPlanet. Leave it on PS3. I’m so sick of the franchise. I would have said inFamous, too, but we all know that’s coming to the PS4. I’d also love to see some old franchises resurface, like Legend of Dragoon.

Cameron Teague – A Reflection (@Cameron_PSLS)

There really isn’t a game I would not want to see, because while I may absolutely hate some games, there are always people out there that like them, so I don’t want to deprive them of their fun. However, for this exercise, I will bypass that and go ahead and put a sting into the hearts of many. I don’t want to see Mirror’s Edge on any system going forward! I have absolutely zero love for that game and think it is grossly overrated to the point of disgusting. So yea, grab your torches and bring on the flames! BRING IT ON BITCHES!!

Chandler Wood – He’s Got the Call, But Won’t Accept the Charges (@FinchStrife)

Hands down, Call of Duty. Please, for the love of God end the shitstorm of yearly rehashes that every other studio tries to duplicate or dominate. Take the controllers away from the CoD fanboys and encourage them to play something else…. anything else. I don’t want every game to be compared to Call of Duty or the entirety of the lay person’s knowledge of video games to be Call of Duty. Call of Duty is a plague on games and is holding the industry back from being able to fully blossom. End the corruption and allow for unique, interesting, and diverse content to make it’s way to the PS4. End the generation of the cookie cutter FPS. You cannot claim to be a gamer if your entire video game catalog is Call of Duty.

Dan Oravasaari – Sexy (@FoolsJoker)

If there was something I would to no longer wish to continue seeing next-generation it would have to be the overly sexualized anime titles (ex Hyperdimension NeptuniaSenran Kagura: Shinovi Versus). I understand there are a number of Otaku fans out there, and don’t care about what they are in to, but the genre seems to do little more than perpetuate the stereotype of the lonely immature gamer.

Jason Dunning – It’s Spelled Honour (@Jasonad21)

There’s definitely a few franchises I don’t think will be returning on the PlayStation 4 (*cough Army of Two *cough), but one I don’t want to see is Medal of Honor. It was clearly overtaken by Call of Duty this generation, and with EA having so much success in the FPS space thanks to Battlefield, Medal of Honor just doesn’t seem necessary anymore.

Jesse Meikle – Don’t Resist (@Jesse_WM)

I’m a Resistance fan, however, I’d like them to put a nail in that series’ coffin UNLESS the story actually moves forward in the Chimeran home-world direction alluded to at the end of Resistance 2, then subsequently ignored in Resistance 3 and Resistance: Burning Skies.

I always adored Resistance for the story, while baring with the solid, albeit overly conventional gameplay. So, unless Resistance is actually going to engage me with it’s narrative as it did in the first two titles, then I’d rather see Sony push the beautiful Nazi under-toned mechanical masterpiece that is Killzone as their staple first person shooter.

Louis Edwards – Little Man on a Big Planet (@ftwrthtx)

I think LittleBigPlanet needs to take a long break from releasing any new titles and just focus on DLC for what is already out there. Also, I feel Nathan Drake needs some time off to give Naughty Dog a chance to create a new game that is equal to the original. I know the question is about not being on the PS4 at all, but I’m throwing this in there because he needs at least a few more years off.

Sebastian Moss – Finally, the Opinion You’ve Been Waiting For (@FoolsJoker)

Final Fantasy. I want them to take a break, and use the whole generation as a chance for them to get their shit together.
