March 2013 NPD Sales Data Puts the Industry Down 10%, BioShock Infinite Outsells Tomb Raider

The March 2013 NPD retail numbers between March 3rd and April 6th have been revealed today, with total industry sales dropping 10% year-on-year to $992.5 million. It isn’t all bad news though, as software sales were up 2% to $602.4 million, but hardware sales were down 32% to $221.6 million.

Here’s the top 10 selling games of March 2013 in stores, with many new releases making an appearance:

*Numbers include all platforms, collector’s editions, Game of the Year editions, and bundles, but not those bundled with hardware

  2. Tomb Raider
  3. Gears of War: Judgment
  4. God of War: Ascension
  5. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
  6. Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (for reference, this sold 365,000 copies at retail)
  7. MLB 13: The Show
  8. NBA 2K13
  9. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
  10. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
