Update on the PS3’s “Remote Download Feature” Expected “Very Soon,” Long-Term EU PS+ Free Games Changing in June

Even though there was some interesting results reported on the EU PS Blog about the Instant Game Collection poll they held back in February (the RPG and Action/Adventure genres received roughly 17,000 votes each of the 73,000 votes cast), there was some more interesting news in the comments.

First up, when someone asked about the “remote download feature” (likely referring to the feature of downloading purchased items from the online store to your PS3), Fred Dutton, SCEE Blog Manager, responded by saying that they’ll “have an update on this very soon.” With the PS3 firmware update notes for 4.40 mentioning we’d see this in May 2013, “very soon” literally means very soon.

In other things we should be hearing about soon, Fred said that when it comes to a release date for Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force (Full Frontal Assault in North America) on PlayStation Vita, they’d hopefully “be able to confirm this for you later this week.” If Sony does offer an update for the oft-delayed Ratchet & Clank game, we’ll let you know.

Moving on to PlayStation Plus, there were a few more pieces of news regarding the service in Europe, such as the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection and Ratchet & Clank Collection not having immediate plans for a sale, as well as Driver: San Francisco not planned for the Instant Game Collection.

Also, long-term IGC titles like inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, and MotorStorm: Apocalypse are going to be switched out in June, barring any last minute delays. Just what will replace them and whether or not this applies to North America as well wasn’t mentioned, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated if we hear anything.

Which new games do you hope enter the Instant Game Collection to replace those long-term titles? Let us know in the comments below.
