Rumor: BioShock Infinite’s DLC to Feature a New AI Companion

Irrational has been keeping a pretty tight lid on any details regarding the story DLC for BioShock Infinite. A Twitter post from Superannuation has called our attention to a LinkedIn profile for Michael Shahan, the Senior Animator at 2K games, which may offer up some hints as to what we’ll be seeing in the future of BioShock Infinite.

As the primary animation resource for the BioShock Infinite DLC, I learned the custom pipeline used by Irrational Games and provided all animation planning and management for the project.

BioShock Infinite DLC1
• Cataloging of existing BioShock animation assets and custom UDK implementation
• Creating cinematic and in-game motion capture asset tracking docs
• Providing animation and R&D for a new AI companion character
• Managing outsource animation from the 2K Australia Studio

His profile specifically calls out that he provided animation and R&D for a new AI companion character. This doesn’t necessarily confirm the appearance of a new AI companion, as this could very well be a scrapped idea or something that never came to fruition. Or it could be our first look into the DLC for a near perfect game. Does this mean that we’ll be seeing someone besides Elizabeth accompanying Booker in the DLC (granted that the player character is even Booker)?

What are your thoughts on the addition of a new AI companion? Are you eager for the BioShock Infinite‘s story add-ons? Discuss your thoughts in the comments below, but try to avoid main game spoilers if at all possible.
