Sony Planning “Intriguing Game Announcements” for this Week

In this weekend’s PlayStation Blog weekly recap post, SCEE blog manager Fred Dutton vaguely teased that Sony has some “intriguing game announcements” planned for this week. No further information was given, but it doesn’t sound like we’ll be waiting much longer for some new game reveals.

And don’t write off these games off as less-appealing due to them not being saved for Sony’s E3 press conference. In recent years, Sony has announced new titles in the weeks prior to E3. For example, last year, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was announced on April 26th, and God of War: Ascension on April 19th. In 2010, LittleBigPlanet 2 was announced on May 10th, Killzone 3 on May 24th, and inFamous 2 the week after on June 4th.

In fact, some new evidence points to one of the new titles being Gran Turismo related, possibly the oft-rumored GT6, if the official Gran Turismo website is to be believed. The website states that it’s getting a makeover and having a “relaunch” on May 8th—which just happens to be… you guessed it.

We’ll have all of the new game announcements as they happen. Stay tuned!
