After giving their site a facelift ahead of the double dose of Killzone we’ll see this year in Killzone: Mercenary on PlayStation Vita this September and Killzone: Shadow Fall at the PS4 launch this holiday, a couple of details for Guerrilla Games’ next-gen FPS have now come to light.
According to the website, Killzone: Shadow Fall will only allow for 1 player locally. If true, this would go against what was previously seen in Killzone 3, where you did have the option of playing two player offline co-op. Elsewhere, with multiplayer details still under wraps, that number is listed as TBA, but the blog post introducing the redesign did say they’ll be “massively expanding” the Shadow Fall section in the coming months.
For another small piece of news that isn’t surprising in the least, Killzone: Shadow Fall is set to be rated Mature by the ESRB, with “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language” as the descriptors.

Killzone: Shadow Fall takes place 30 years after the events of Killzone 3. Set in an era of interplanetary colonization, it focuses on the conflict between the Vektans and the Helghast, two rival colonist factions inhabiting a distant planet. For three decades, both factions have lived side by side, separated by an enormous security wall – but now their cold war is about to go hot.
It’s up to Lucas Kellan, a member of the military intelligence unit known as the Shadow Marshals, to try to protect the fragile peace that exists. A new warrior for a new era of war, Kellan’s missions will range from quiet infiltrations to all-out combat. Lucas will need to be methodical and ready to adapt, as any misstep could lead to mutually assured destruction!
