The Catch-Up: June 7th, 2013 – DriveClub Playable at E3, SCEE Wants Your Votes on “JRPGs and Similar for Vita”

Depending on whether or not Sebastian and myself have enough energy drinks, this could the last Catch-Up until possibly as late as Thursday. While that is unlikely to happen (there’s only so much we can cover at once!), we’ll be doing our best to bring you all the news to come from E3 2013 starting on Monday either way.

General News

  • It looks as though both Tales of Symphonia Chronicles on PS3 and Rayman Legends on PS Vita are going to be $39.99 each. [Amazon 1, 2]
  • Stephane D’Astous, General Manager of Eidos Montreal (Thief), said that he thinks the PS4 and Xbox One represent a “good time to reinvent classic games.” [Source]
  • Malicious Rebirth is headed to the PlayStation Vita in North America and Europe later this year. This is a PSN release that will have more levels, bosses, and powers over the PS3 version (which is free on PS+ in North America). More details are expected soon, so stay tuned. [Source]
  • Pre-order NBA 2K14 before its October 1st release date to receive the King James Bonus Pack. This includes extra content for Path to Greatness Mode, LeBron James unlocked in Blacktop Mode, LeBron James Signature Skill, 10,000 Virtual Currency.
  • DriveClub will be fully playable at E3. Now we just have to wait and see who on the PSLS staff gets to play it… [Source]
  • Shahid Ahmad announced that SCEE is “looking at JRPGs and similar for Vita. Your votes on which ones you’d buy using #jrpgvita please. :-)” [Twitter]
  • Likely due to the fact that Daylight seems to utilize the PS4Eye, they have “nothing confirmed about remote play” on PlayStation Vita yet, but that could change. [Source]
  • A new NPD report says that $3.5 billion was spent on video games in the first quarter of 2013, the same number as seen in the first quarter of 2012. Of the $3.5 billion, $1.37 billion was on physical software, $559 million on used games and rentals, and $1.49 billion on digital purchases (subscriptions, mobile games, DLC). [Source]
