GameStop Opens “Floodgates” for Unlimited PS4 Pre-Orders as Console Leads in Sales

PS4 pre-orders have been dominating Amazon, but they’re not the only retailer in town, with GameStop eager to get in on the action. GT has obtained an internal memo from the retailer revealing that the “flood gates are open” when it comes to pre-orders from that particular retailer:

PS4 Reservation New Information

Starting now, through this weekend and until further notice, Sony has allowed us to take unlimited preorders beyond your current allotments. In other-words, the flood gates are open for PS4 system reserves, we will let you know when to stop preordering based on limited quantities.

…Do NOT exceed the grand total amount that you can reserve up to on Xbox One.

It’s also been reported that one GameStop store originally was only given 24 PS4 systems for pre-order, but then increased to 138 as the week progressed, with that store having sold 66 already. On the flip side, the Xbox One was given 18 systems at that store, with customers only pre-ordering 12 so far.

So, if you’ve been waiting to reserve your PlayStation 4 before it releases this holiday at $399, and don’t want to wait for it to ship from their site, head down to your local GameStop this weekend and put some money down on the console.

Are you going to be pre-ordering a PS4 in the next few days? Have you already pre-ordered your PS4? Let us know in the comments below.
