Hideo Kojima Suggests Metal Gear Solid Newbies Play Metal Gear Solid 3 First, or Peace Walker if You’re “Younger Gen”

The $49.99 Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is out in North America on July 9th, bundling together everything you see here in this video:

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Hideo Kojima gave some helpful tips to Metal Gear Solid newcomers, suggesting that you play Metal Gear Solid 3 “as control is modern” and if you liked it, “then [Metal Gear Solid 4].” For the “younger gen” though, he thinks Peace Walker would be the best, but it’s “hard to play solo unless you do co-op [with] PSP online” and there’s a “hard boss battle if [you] like to take time and play.”

As for Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, which the dev side stated would be tough to play for current gamers, Hideo says they have a “camera [with] bird-eye view,” so “if you want to learn the story, then just read the novel.” Of course, since The Legacy Collection includes digital graphic novels of those two games, so you don’t have to worry about reading the book if you pick it up.

Here’s one final tip from Hideo Kojima:

For whom haven’t played [Metal Gear Solid] the easy way to learn about [Metal Gear Solid Saga]. Read [Metal Gear Solid 4] novel by Keikaku Ito which explains well about SAGA.

Which is the first Metal Gear Solid you’d recommend to someone who has never experienced the series? Let us know in the comments below.
