Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus Renamed in Europe, “No Plans” for a PS4 Version, Platinum Trophy Should Happen

Since it seems as though Sony and Insomniac decided to pull back the curtain on Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus about 12 hours than they had planned, probably due to the big leak last night, it meant that PlayStation Europe wasn’t able to tell everyone all about the game.

Thankfully, they gave out all the details just a few hours ago, revealing that it’s officially titled Ratchet & Clank Nexus in Europe, keeping the tradition of Ratchet & Clank games releasing under different names (Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault was Q-Force, Deadlocked is Gladiator) in Europe. As for price, it will be €29.99, with a £ price still to be announced.

Also, after a little confusion in the original posting, Fred Dutton of the EU PS Blog confirmed that Nexus will be released both in stores and on the PSN, just like North America.

Now, to continue the commenting from Insomniac Games’ James Stevenson on the US PS Blog yesterday, he said of Spyro that “we don’t own Spyro, and it’s been what, 13 years since the last one we made? Never say never, of course, but I think that ship sailed long ago.”

Getting back to Ratchet & Clank, there’s “no news at the moment” regarding a possible PSN release for A Crack in Time or Tools of Destruction. As well, there’s “no plans [for a PS4 version of Into the Nexus] at this time.”

To close out the interesting answers on the US side, James was asked if this was the Nexus game that was supposed to be on PS2 so many years ago, while also getting a question about multiplayer:

Nah, we wouldn’t go back to Nexus on PS2. That game isn’t really anything like this one, we just like that name. 🙂

No multiplayer plans at this time. The fan response always seems to be to put all of our resources and efforts into the best single-player experience possible

Switching to the EU PS Blog, James addressed a few more fans, revealing that Nexus “should have a platinum” trophy, while also explaining the reason for the name change in Europe:

There’s always some legal, localization, cultural, or marketing reason for these things, usually which aren’t very interesting and too much of getting into the details of the sausage making.

After someone called Insomniac out for the disappointing port of Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force on PlayStation Vita, James said that, “In terms of the ports, Insomniac can only handle so much. We like to focus on our new games and making them work on the platform we have experience with on the PS3.”

Finally, both Fred and James gave their accounts of what is holding up Gladiator from releasing on the EU PSN:

Fred: I checked in with the producer this morning and it’s getting closer. I don’t want to give you a timescale as things can change, but it will be with you soon. As soon as I have a confirmed date I will pass it on.

James: I’m not sure what’s been holding it up here though last I had heard they were trying to iron out a few bugs from the US release and it was in QA approvals.
