Following the release of NCAA Football 14 earlier this month, the NCAA has decided “not to enter a new contract for the license of its name and logo for the EA Sports NCAA Football video game.” While the contract doesn’t actually expire until June 2014, the NCAA had to give EA fair warning before coming to this conclusion.
The NCAA also explained their reasoning behind this by saying, “given the current business climate and costs of litigation, we determined participating in this game is not in the best interests of the NCAA.”
Shortly thereafter, Andrew House, Executive Vice President at EA Sports, issued a response to this matter, revealing that they “will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks.” EA Sports isn’t wasting anytime either, as they have already started working on a new game set for release on next-gen consoles in 2014 that will include “the college teams, leagues and all the innovation fans expect from EA Sports.”
What do you think EA should call their next-gen college football game? Let us know in the comments below.
