A big gaming convention is coming up very soon, so that means we’ll be doing a double dose of Ask PSLSes this week! To kick things off, we asked the PSLS staff: Which PS4 Announcement at gamescom 2013 Do You Want the Most?

Which PS4 announcement do I want the most? An Uncharted origins story where you play as Sir Francis Drake… but it makes no sense for them to make such an announcement at gamescom—more likely for the VGAs where Naughty Dog likes to announce their games. That, or anything else that’ll make Microsoft scramble and reverse policies on.

For the PS4, I want to hear about games. Games, games, and games. I didn’t catch any really hard hitters at E3, and I feel that next-gen is missing the games that are going to define it, especially in the category of launch titles. Give me some great surprises on first party PS4 exclusives at gamescom and I will be more than happy. Oh and release date, but I think that one is a given. I really don’t want to hear any more talk about the system, just put one in my home already, Sony!

I would like to hear about some more games that will be planned for early 2014. I know there are plenty of titles currently in the works, but I don’t want see too long of a gap in title launches. The next Uncharted probably won’t be released until late 2014, and would be more likely unveiled at the VGAs or E3, so I’m not going to say that.
I guess the only thing that I would like to see is Sony do an announcement where they say that, since this is apparently the year of the 180, they will now include DRM and the PS Camera will be required. Then just end the show saying, “Na, who would be stupid enough try and change plans this far into development?” then walk away.

I’d be happy with a release date. Even if it’s just for one territory, and even if that territory is The Moon, I want the new systems to have some sure dates on ’em instead of whatever the newest retailer “leak” is. I’d also love to see Sega show up and bust Valkyria Chronicles 4 out of nowhere. Four for 4. That would be a crowd pleaser, just not in Japan!

Personally, I don’t need really anything to be announced because I’m buying a PS4 on launch day no matter what. Professionally, I hope they give us an exact release date in all territories, along with a list of every single game confirmed for launch, both physically and digitally.

What PS4 announcement do I want the most? I want to see more first party launch games, not these so called “launch window” titles we always hear about. I love PlayStation, but I’m concerned that having Killzone launch day won’t simply be enough.

I want my mind to be blown by an exclusive that looks like something that could really only be possible on a next gen machine. What we’ve seen so far still seems like this gen stuff with better graphics.
