Looks Like Grand Theft Auto Online Will Include Microtransactions

We’re just one week away from Rockstar flipping the switch on Grand Theft Auto Online, allowing for the craziness of you and up to 15 other players to begin.

If a recent listing discovered on the online store by someone on Reddit (it’s also in an XML file on Rockstar’s website) is to be believed, Grand Theft Auto Online will allow for microtransactions. These will be available in four different options:

  • Red Shark Cash Card – $100,000 in-game money
  • Tiger Shark Cash Card – $200,000 in-game money
  • Bull Shark Cash Card – $500,000 in-game money
  • Great White Shark Cash Card – $1.25 million in-game money

There are no details on how much each of those cards would cost with real money.

The description for each card reads as follows:

Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting.

You can also find listings for a Special Edition Pack, Collector’s Edition Pack, and Atomic Blimp, possibly pointing towards the fact that all the extra content from those may be available for sale at some point.

We’ll find out next week if this is true, so stay tuned.
