At one point, it seemed as though The Dark Sorcerer would be the PS4 game from Quantic Dream, but we quickly learned that it was just a tech demo, with David Cage telling Game Informer (via CVG) about the tech behind it:
It’s really the technology from Beyond [on] PlayStation 3 that we just ported on PlayStation 4 very roughly. I did a couple of nice improvements here and there, but it’s not really a PlayStation 4 engine the way we are going to do it on our next game.
When it comes to their PS4 game, David Cage revealed that it’s “still in pre-production,” before continuing:
I mean Beyond really took all our attention and resources. But we have a small team working on this next-gen project – on the tech, on the concepts and art. And it’s [a] very, very exciting project, something different from Beyond and Heavy Rain… building on the same grounds, but in a very, very different way.
So we’re incredibly impassioned to start working on it actively and to have this project in production. But again, people should expect to be surprised again, because this is really what we try to do with each game – not give people what they expect, give them something they want maybe without knowing this is what they want.
