With the final NPD US sales numbers for the month of September 2013 being released this Thursday, Wedbush Securities brought out their estimates, predicting that it will be a huge month, mostly due to Grand Theft Auto V.
Overall, they expect software sales to be $910 million, up 83% compared to September 2012, with Grand Theft Auto V, FIFA 14, and NBA 2K14 expected to be the stop three selling games, with Madden NFL 25 and Disney Infinity showing good numbers as well.
What’s most interesting about their estimates is that, while Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware sales are expected to be down compared to September 2012 (Xbox One and PS4 are coming), they estimate that 145,000 Xbox 360s and 175,000 PS3s will have been sold during the month. If this holds true and the PS3 does finish on top, it would break the Xbox 360’s 32 month streak as the #1 selling console in the US, with PS3 sales helped out in large part thanks to the Grand Theft Auto V console bundle and the new 12GB model.
We’ll let you know of the NPD report on Thursday as soon as it’s released.
