With Grand Theft Auto V breaking sales records last month, and Call of Duty being the previous record holder, it appears as though Activision won’t take this usurping of the sales throne lying down, as Senior Brand Manager in the UK, Kevin Flynn, told MCV:
Congratulations to the team at Rockstar for their success. We look forward to getting the record back before the next GTA title.
Knowing that Grand Theft Auto VI is at least a few years away, and Call of Duty releases every single year, there’s always a chance of this happening.
As for the Call of Duty this year, Ghosts, Flynn said, “We know that our unaided awareness for Ghosts is leading the way against other unreleased triple-A titles. Our digital content has proven extremely popular and Black Ops 2 has sold more than 3 million units in the UK.”
While 3 million for Black Ops 2 is impressive, MCV is reporting that Grand Theft Auto V has already passed 3 million copies sold itself in the UK, just one month after launch.
