We were really hoping that Sony would have debunked this rumor by now, but since they haven’t yet, it does add some fuel to the rumor that DriveClub has been delayed from PS4 launch day to sometime in Spring 2014, something that recently happened to Watch Dogs.
Originally reported by TheSameCoin yesterday, they said, “We’ve had word from an anonymous source that Sony’s upcoming PS4 launch title DriveClub is delayed until spring 2014. While no reason for the delay was given it has been reported previously that the game had looked a little unfinished when shown at various events this year.”
Though that site put a disclaimer to “treat this as 100% rumour for now,” Kotaku followed up by saying, “a person familiar with goings-on at Sony told me this afternoon that the report is true.” As well, DriveClub was supposed to appear at an event showing off PS4 games yesterday, but wasn’t present due to a “scheduling conflict.”
Then, Design Director Paul Rustchynsky sent out this tweet about the situation:
Unfortunately guys I don’t have any new information on DriveClub to share. I’ve been out if the office for a week looking after my newborn!
Of course, if this rumor is true, Sony would have to replace the PlayStation Plus Edition of DriveClub with another title at PS4 launch (or maybe we’ll get an early build of DriveClub?) and they’d also have to deal with all the people who pre-ordered DriveClub PS4 bundles.
Once Sony sends out official word either way about the DriveClub release date, we’ll let you know.
How much would it suck if DriveClub was delayed? Let us know in the comments below.
