Shuhei Yoshida Talks PS4 Installs: “Happens in the Background as you Play”, Are Automatic

Earlier today, we posted about how Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall would require 37GB and 45GB on your PS4 HDD, respectively. Instead of being an ‘install’, Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that it is “caching data” and “it’s automatic.”

When there was some still some unhappiness surrounding this, Shuhei replied with, “You can delete any cached data if you need to.” Also, unlike PS3 games where you can wait around 30 minutes for a game to install, the caching “happens in the background as you play, unless poorly engineered.”

Do you plan on deleting cached data right after you beat a game to make room for all your newer games? Let us know in the comments below.
