Earlier this year, a rumor popped up suggesting Titanfall may come to the PS4 after an exclusivity window for the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One ran out.
Well, EA put an end to all those rumors during an investment call yesterday, with EA CFO Blake Jorgensen saying:
In the case of Titanfall, it’s a brand new IP and it’s exclusive only for the life of the title on Xbox One and Xbox 360 and PC.
Then, Microsoft’s Major Nelson chimed in:
Yes, @Titanfallgame game is exclusive. No, not a timed exclusive. It will only be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360 & PC.
Respawn Co-Founder Vince Zampella, was active on his Twitter account when this exclusivity news came to light, saying that it’s “just this release,” and doesn’t extend to the entire Titanfall series (but there’s no plans for anything past the first game right now). Also, while it may not be Titanfall, Respawn will “of course” make games for the PS4.
Perhaps the most interesting tweet from Zampella implies that Titanfall was originally planned for release on PlayStation before the exclusivity deal was made:
Always [Microsoft] exclusive at launch, great partner and focus is good for a startup. EA made a deal for the rest, we only found out recently =(
What do you think of Titanfall (at least the first one) never coming to PlayStation? Let us know in the comments below.
