According to some casting documents obtained by Kotaku for a project code-named Institute, which they say have been verified, the next entry into the Fallout series is in development:
You may notice the lack of Fallout being mentioned in the documents, but Kotaku points to the fact that there are references to settings and locations from Fallout, including the Commonwealth and the Institute. As well, the casting director for this project also worked on other Bethesda games, including Dishonored and Skyrim.
Some of the other documents name characters Travis Miles, a radio DJ, and Sturges, an engineer who is “a cross between Buddy Holly and Vin Diesel.” Along with that, the casting notes for the male and female versions of the player mention how you begin the game in a cryogenic sleep chamber.
Of course, all of the information in the casting documents could have been made up for the purpose of casting, though it does appear from these that a new Fallout game is at least in the works.
