Tragedy struck indie developer Hello Games just before Christmas after heavy rain led to their entire office flooding, destroying everything within it.
Sadly, we don’t have any good news to report now, with the developer of Joe Danger and upcoming No Man’s Sky tweeting:
BAD NEWS! Had a ‘hilarious’ call with insurer yesterday. Small print is if you are in a flood risk zone, you are not insured for flooding 🙁
Continuing humbly:
It’s not just us but our neighbours as well – some people *live* in those houses. At least we get to go home at night…
And finally:
On a brighter note, no insurance means we can just wade in and start setting things straight! Hello Games assemble!
The tweets have been met with an outpouring of love from the community, with many calling for some sort of fundraising effort or Kickstarter campaign. Should anything like that happen, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Other comments also noted that insurance companies often try to get out of paying, but continued persistence may yield results. Here’s hoping.
