The PlayStation 4 managed to beat the Xbox 360 to become the UK’s best-selling home games console in 2013, winning by a couple of thousand units.
The victory was grabbed in the final week of 2013, with the PS4 selling 530,000 units in total during its 5 weeks on sale – the fastest selling console in UK history. PlayStation UK MD Fergal Gara told the latest edition of MCV:
We are delighted with the very strong sales of PS4 to date. Since we unveiled the console, gamers have shown huge interest in the PS4. Our focus now is rebuilding stock levels so those have not been able to get a PS4 can finally experience the next-gen. I’d like to thank the gamers, our retail and publishing parters who played a big part in making this success possible.
But the PS4 wasn’t the best-selling games device of 2013 with the 3DS winning out thanks to strong titles and the 2DS.
