Details regarding the February 2014 PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection are starting to come to light, with the Outlast Facebook Page confirming that we can expect the horror title for free next month:
Outlast will be free in February for all PlayStation Plus users (PS4 only). #OUTLAST #PS4 #PSPLUS
With no restrictions named, we can only assume this means Outlast will be free for everyone in North America and Europe, with Don’t Starve likely to be the game rotated out to make room for it.
This news comes on the same day as when the UK PlayStation site listed Outlast for release on Wednesday, February 5th, meaning that we should be expecting it on Tuesday, February 4th in North America. For non-PlayStation Plus members, the game should sell for $19.99 separately (that’s the price on Steam).
Here’s a video of Conan playing Outlast (skip to 5:00), along with the game’s description:
In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors await inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, it has been recently re-opened by the research and charity branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation and operates in strict secrecy… until now.
Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility and what he discovers treads a terrifying line between science, religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.
Outlast is a true survival horror experience which shows that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind itself. Are you prepared?
WARNING: Contains Adult themes. Only Suitable For 18 and over
With Outlast confirmed for PlayStation Plus in February, this only leaves DriveClub PS+ Edition, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, and Secret Ponchos as the PS4’s PS+ freebies in early 2014.
