Octodad: Dadliest Catch PS4 Release Aiming for March, Young Horses’ Future Depends on Octodad’s Success

The game that stole many people’s hearts and attention last year on PS4, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, was given a PC/Mac/Linux release date of January 30th today. To celebrate the occasion, this launch trailer was brought out:

For the PlayStation 4 version of Octodad: Dadliest Catch, developer Young Horses is aiming for a March 2014 release date, “but really it’s just as soon as we can finish it up.” They also teased “more things to announce even closer to release,” so stay tuned for details.

Speaking with Polygon, Young Horses President Phil Tibitoski said of the PS4 version, “We still need to work on trophies and some things like that a bit, though it’s more about just giving us some more room to make sure we can get it done. We don’t want to make any hasty announcements.”

With Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Young Horses’ fate as a studio relies on its success, as Tibitoski added:

We don’t have any sources of income. We all had other jobs until now, but we all quit those to finish this up and hedge our bets on Octodad. We need to make a certain amount to keep going as Young Horses and if we don’t we need to dissolve the studio or make other plans.

The amount needed wasn’t made clear, just that they have a distinct idea of what it is.

If Octodad: Dadliest Catch on PS4 carries the same $14.99 price tag as PC, will you be buying it on launch day? Let us know in the comments below.
